After a slow start to life at the Dutch League giant he has found his feet with six goals in his last seven games for the club. He scored five in the league and one in the Europa League.
Akpom represented England at various youth levels but switched his international future to Nigeria three years ago. Since that switch the 28 year old hasn’t been called up to the senior national team of Nigeria.
He was prime for a first time call up last season after hitting 29 goals for Middlesbrough in the English Championship, but the fact that he wasn’t in possession of a Nigerian passport brought about a halt in the plans.
Peseiro has always referenced the Ajax number 10 as a player in his sight and he has now been told to hand the former Arsenal teen sensation a spot in his team, because of the fact that he will make them unpredictable.
” Akpom could be the joker and I am not joking. You really don’t know how he do it but he is always around the box, free in space to hit home crosses or balls in the box. That’s a rare threat as he is deadly with his head as well despite not being the tallest.
