According to a letter of notification made available to newsmen, the “Defender of the Faithful” award is in recognition of the pivotal role Oluwo has been playing in the propagation of Islam and openly identifying with Muslims in Yorubaland.
The letter reads, “Considering the pivotal role you have been playing as an outspoken Muslim Traditional Ruler who openly and boldly identifies with Islam in Yorubaland, the Muslims Rights Concern (MURIC) has found you eminently worthy of the award of “DEFENDER OF THE FAITHFUL”
