JUST IN: Tinubu’s cabinet: Wike may get Ministry of Niger Delta, Umahi Minister of works

As Nigerians await President Bola Tinubu to finally form his government by assigning portfolios to the 45 ministers cleared by the Senate, Iwitnesslive has learnt about the offices to be occupied by some of the cleared nominees including former Governor Nyesom Wike who is likely going to oversee the Ministry of Niger Delta.

Wike who is still a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party under the flag which he governed River State for eight years, will be assigned the office of Niger Delta Minister not only because of the way he dealt with oil spillage in his state but for him to have a firm grip of political in the region ahead of the next election….CONTINUE READING

“Tinubu knows that Wike is very trustworthy, he may be stubborn but he is never a betrayal and he wants to hand him that influence in the region so that he can deliver for him and his ruling All Progressives Congress in 2027. He delivered Rivers in 2023 and he knows as a minister he could wield more influence over the South-South region in the next polls,” a source in the party told our correspondent.

‘Another former Governor Dave Umahi is expected to get the Ministry of Works portfolio.

Umahi is an expert in engineering and construction and the President see him as the round peg in a round hole if he manages the works ministry which is central to the plans of his government.

“Umahi’s performance as Governor of Ebonyi especially in the area of infrastructure impressed the President and he expect ts him to bring his experience to bear at the federal level. Apart from that, the President also see him as being a loyal ally who could be trusted with huge assignment,” the source said.

Nigerians expect legal icon Lateef Fagbemi, SAN to be named the Minister of Justice and our correspondent learnt that the lawyer had even submitted a proposal for his plan for the ministry to the President.

A former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank Adegoke Adelabu will be named the Minister for State in the Ministry of Finance. He is to assist Wale Edun, who is to be named the Minister of Finance. Educn is currently a Special Adviser to Tinubu on Monetary Policies.
